Signature Dance Squad -Registration Policy Statements
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REGISTERING
1. Mission Statement
Signature Dance Squad is a community dance company that is open to all. It aims to provide a happy and safe environment in which students can learn the art of dance.
Code of Conduct
Signature Dance Squad's commitment to Students and Parents:
Integrity:
Signature Dance Squad will act in all matters with integrity allowing students and their families to be treated with honesty, consideration and respect.
Competence:
Signature Dance Squad will operate within the limits of the teachers’ qualifications, experience and expertise. All classes will be planned to an appropriate level to facilitate the needs of the students providing feedback in a positive and encouraging way to aid development always adhering to the highest possible standards.
Professionalism:
Signature Dance Squad will ensure safety is always paramount and the facilities used for practice are adequate to meet the needs of the students. Signature Dance Squad will also strive to give students the maximum opportunity to perform by building relationships with other organisations and assisting students and parents with advice and guidance for those who may wish to follow a career in the arts.
Student and Parents commitment to Signature Dance Squad:
Respect for Others:
Students and Parents are requested to treat others as they would expect to be treated themselves. Any form of bullying will not be tolerated! Negative comments about others appearance or ability are not welcomed. Positivity and encouragement are Signature Dance Squad’s inspiration.
2.Commitment:
Signature Dance Squad is a performing school that regularly exhibits its work, to this end every member is a member of a team. Choreography doesn’t just happen, it is planned. Absence from class means students catching up when they return resulting in wasted time and slowing down the advancement of the team. Sporadic attendance may result in a student being stopped from partaking in public performances. For performances, attendance is especially important, if you will not be able to attend a public performance (dates of performances are published well in advance) please inform us as soon as possible, students can still be part of the class building up to the performance if we know they are not going to be there as I can plan around this, however someone dropping out in the weeks preceding a performance can have an effect on the outcome, denting the morale of the team and not fulfilling the full joy potential that the children deserve as a return for their efforts and hard work. Sporadic attendance may also result in a dancer loosing their place within a class if there is a waiting list to attend that class. If a child is more than 10 minutes late they will not be permitted into class, this is for the safety of a dancer as warm up will already be complete
3. Fee’s
Fees are paid on the first week of every month
All places are secured once a child is registered and fees are paid up to date. Non payment of fees or payment being late may result in dancer loosing their place at a class with another child being put in their place. If at any point in time you wish to leave Signature, written notice must be given either in a letter or email this allows us to officially reopen a place in this class, and to give another child the opportunity to take their place. We cannot officially sign off a dancer until any outstanding payments are cleared. If a financial situation occurs let us know as we can work around this, as we know everyone’s situation is different.
Once fees have been paid they are not refundable or transferable. Signature closes for the month of July & 2 weeks at Christmas.
30 days notice must be given on leave from club
4. Appearance and Bearing:
Signature Dance Squad is a community dance school and as such there are no barriers to entry. Signature is not liable for any valuables or personal belongings that are brought into class. There is no registration fee but uniform is compulsory. Students should arrive in suitable attire for dance e.g. T-shirt and tracksuits, Inc appropriate dance wear and footwear. Jeans or school uniform with shoes is not appropriate. No jewellery has to be worn and hair must be tied back at all times. NO food or fizzy juice is brought into any class. If further advice is required please ask. Students are reminded that they are ambassadors for Signature Dance Squad and their families so please act in a manner befitting.
5. Safety:
Signature Dance Squad has a Child Protection Policy and parents are requested to be aware of these policies in the interest of serving the wellbeing of the children. Parents are asked to disclose any medical information, allergies or injuries that students may have on the registration form and to provide any amendments to this information if necessary. Signature Dance Squad also asks on the registration form for parent’s permission to any medical attention if ever needed. Parents are also asked to recognize that as with any physical activity there can be a risk of injury and therefore release Signature Dance Squad accepts no liability for any injuries encored.
6. Interruptions:
Parents are requested to drop off and collect their children in a timely manner, firstly for their safety and secondly to minimise disturbances to the class. NO mobile phones are allowed out in classes therefore we ask they either are switched off or put on silent in a student’s bag. Parents are also politely asked to recognise that sitting in on class is not permitted. It is appreciated that parents like to see the progress their children are making, however the presence of an adult within the classroom usually has a debilitating effect on the students, making them more self-conscious and causing a general distraction. Parents will get the opportunity to see their children perform as Signature Dance Squad holds regular demonstrations of work. Only persons with enhanced disclosures through Signature Dance will be allowed in a hall where children are taking part in any class.
Students 16 years & under must be signed IN and OUT; all children will be registered at every lesson and at the end of the session. No child will be allowed to leave unless signed out. Written permission must be given if you wish your child to sign themselves in and out. Our responsibility ends when the session ends, unless we are informed by a Parent/Guardian. If you are going to be late to pick your child/ren up, you must make contact with the Dance Coach or the venue to inform us.
7. Photography and Filming:
Photography and filming by parents or students during class is strictly prohibited. During events Signature Dance Squad may employ a photographer to take still images or video footage which is then made available for Parents and Students as keepsakes. These images may also be used to advertise Signature Dance Squad in differing forms of marketing.
